Prerequisites: The tutorial requires a minimal level of pre-requisites. The tutorial does not require audience to have the experience of any specific programming language or graphics API, though the basic knowledge about probability, visualization and computer graphics will be helpful.

Intended Audience: This tutorial is designed for the general audience of SIGGRAPH Asia conference, and it is especially suitable for new PhD students who are looking for new and exciting topic areas to develop their PhD projects as well as experienced researchers who wish to broaden their research horizon.

Summary: In this tutorial, we review a variety of applications of information theory in visualization. The holistic nature of information-theoretic reasoning has enabled many such applications, ranging from light placement to view selection, from feature highlighting to transfer function design, from data fusion to visual multiplexing, and so on.
